The first hint at the benefits of essential oils actually comes from the Bible.
Consider ... Adam and Eve were placed in a lovely setting among the flowers, shrubs, grasses and trees.
Ever since then we have inherently loved the fragrances of nature; the smells of plants; the natural perfumes; the barks of trees; the gentle scents of ... well, Essential Oils.

When it comes to essential oils, cheap usually means chemically made. Check out my page on Essential Oil Quality.

Do you think it's possible that God intended for us to live in an environment permeated with the natural scents of essential oils? Do you think that He may have imbued these fragrances and oils with natural curative powers?
I personally have come to believe this and ...
Some benefits of essential oils may even outweigh pharmaceutical options.
Modern science has actually shown essential oils to be more effective than many antibiotics and have been successful in treating many diseases.
We now know that these essential oils are more than just pleasing to the nose; they are actually physically, emotionally and mentally healing. Even the simple act of breathing them in, tends to keep us healthy.
The tiny molecules that form essential oils are less than 500 atomic mass units (AMU) in molecular weight. This is less than half that of fatty oils which explains why they are able to pass through your cell walls carrying nutrition in and waste product out.
Using confocal fluorescence microscopy we can actually see a good quality, clinical grade, essential oil penetrate a human cell and become active inside. This means that it is active at the sub-cellular level and can support the cell's vitality and health.
When an essential oil is absorbed by your body it can begin to do similar functions that it was designed for in the plant kingdom.
They are also nature's most powerful antioxidants.
Have you heard of the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity)
scale? The ORAC scale is applied by the USDA to measure antioxidant
capacities of our various foods. The higher the ORAC score the more
power to destroy free radicals in your body. Free radicals cause aging
as well as cancer and other diseases.
One of the benefits of essential oils is that they have the highest scores of all, including those of fruits and vegetables. For example, Clove oil is 450 times more potent than blueberries and 5,000 times more potent than carrots.
The American Medical Association has stated that if we could find an agent which could penetrate the blood-brain barrier we could cure Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's and Lou Gehrig's disease.
The problem is the barrier will only allow molecules smaller than 800 atomic mass units (AMU) in molecular weight.
As discussed above another one of the benefits of essential oils is their incredibly small (less than 500 AMU) size of molecules. This is why it is possible to smell them and take them in through your olfactory system.
They can easily penetrate your tissues and pass through cell membranes. When this happens they enter your lungs and are immediately injected into your blood system and can travel throughout your body.
When they reach your brain they actually penetrate the blood-brain barrier where some incredible things happen. It is here that essential oils can do some of their best work.
Perhaps the American Medical Association should take a closer look at the benefits of essential oils, don't you think?
