For any burn treatment to be effective you will need to act fast. Essential oils can ease or eliminate pain when applied quickly.
Lavender, Helichrysum, Peppermint and Tea Tree work well together to assist with a quick recovery and can be very effective for ongoing treatment
If possible your first step should be to run cool (not cold) water over the burn for approximately 10 - 15 minutes in order to reduce the penetration caused by heat. Getting the temperature down quickly will go a long way to improve your recovery time.
The next step should be to determine the degree of the burn.
Very serious burns should not be addressed using a home remedy. Cool water and essential oils can be applied to mitigate the seriousness of the burn but should be followed up with immediate medical attention. Click here to see disclaimer
First degree burns are hot and painful but there should be no blistering. Second and third degree burns will involve blistering and possible damage to the skin including charring.
For the purposes of this page, the information I am providing is for cases of minor burns and sunburns only; burns that would be referred to as first degree burns.
After obtaining medical treatment you can employ essential oils (with your doctor's blessing of course) to a serious burn in order to reduce your recovery time.
My favorite oil for a burn treatment has always been True Lavender Essential Oil.
Lavender provides immediate relief of the pain and will noticeably reduce your recovery time; in many instances, when employed quick enough, the pain is entirely removed and recovery time is reduced to nil.
In cases where ongoing treatment is necessary mix lavender with rose hip carrier oil in a 1-10 solution and spray it on the injury as needed until full recovery is attained.
Lavender Essential Oil is incredible for treatment of minor burns. I keep a bottle near the stove in our kitchen so it can be applied immediately when I accidentally touch a hot pan.
The pain almost instantly disappears and does not return. The sooner you apply it the better the affect.
True Lavender can be used to cool your skin from a sunburn and help regenerate the tissue so you heal quicker.

If you experience a burn the first thing you should do if possible is to cool the area in some cold tap water.
Secondly, determine how serious the burn is. Anything above a first degree burn should be referred for medical attention, especially if it covers a large area. What's the difference?
Assuming your burn is not serious you can use Peppermint in a burn treatment blend with other oils with Lavender being the prime ingredient.
Peppermint is a cooling oil which will help ease the pain.

Tea Tree Oil is a broad spectrum antimicrobial and can be useful as a burn treatment for minor burns. It can be used undiluted for small areas but for larger ones like a sunburn you should add it to water and spray it on the area of concern.
