Origins: Native of the South American rainforests of Brazil and Peru.
Other Names: Bois de rose, Brazilian rosewood
Description: Mid-sized tropical evergreen with red bark and yellow flowers. Endangered because it is being used for timber in clearing the rain forests of South America.
Extraction: Essential oil by steam distillation
Botanical Part Used: Wood chips
Principal Constituents: Linalol (80-90%), cineol, terpineol, geraniol, citronellal, limonene, pinene and others.

People with sensitive skin should also be careful when using rosewood oil.
Rosewood oil, especially at full strength, is not recommended for very young children, as well.
Rosewood Essential Oil has a high linalool (80-90%) content which makes it very effective at easing conditions such as anxiety and stress.
Mix with aloe and coconut oil at a 50:50 ratio and massage your hands and feet.
